My Final Review (Nathan Whyte)

My final review of the photo booth, we did not have any health and safety risks on the day as we had already discussed any risks there would be with Beth. We also had ally from photography who set up the photo booth for us and taking the pictures so there was no risks involved.

We worked brilliantly as a team we all had our own roles though we always helped one another out  if someone was struggling. We all contributed something to make the photo booth a success. We always had a group meeting before starting the planning of the event so if anyone had any questions or worry's we would discuss as group making sure we all gave each other advice. This was also the same when coming up with ideas for the event each person would get there say and them we come to a decision at the end if we thought it would work or not.  We all supported one another and never had any problems.

I enjoyed working with the team and the other teams to make the event a success to raise money for the JAK DENS charity. It has also giving me the confidence to plan another event in the future. There was nothing that i didn't really enjoy the whole event was a great day and enjoyed every part of it from the planning to the day of the event.

My biggest strength was helping get people into to use the photo booth as i was worried about asking people who i did not know to come and use the booth though on the day i was not worried in the slightest and achally enjoyed talking to other members of the college and encouraging them to use the photo booth.  I do not think i had any weakness during the activity part from one absence though the team updated me on everything the next week.

I will feel confident in the future planning an even as now i no the steps to take when planning and event. I also think this will be useful for any other charity events I may be planning.   After working well in a team i think this will benefit me when i am employment to confidently work well with others in a team. I wont be as worried when dealing with other members of the college as i feel i was pretty confident.

My main thing I hoped to achieve was to be more confident working with other people. I feel i achieved this by working with the level 5's  in my team and the other teams to make the event an success by contributing my ideas and getting involved in class discussions. My role in the group was varied witch i enjoyed as receptive tasks can get boring so enjoyed doing a bit of everything. Though i did really enjoy design the golden ticket and poster using a new software i had never used before.

The Day Of The Event (Nathan Whyte)

On the day of the event we had Ally from photography help set up the photo booth witch was a great help. My role on the day of the event was to get people to come and use the photo booth witch we did mange to do though not as many as we had hoped as it was the end of term the college was not as busy as it usually is. I also helped the other stalls set up  and make sure they had all the prizes laid out on the tables. It was a great day all in and was a great laugh seeing every one trying on the funny props and am glad the event was a success.

Final Reflection (Kim) 14/06/2017

The photo booth was an excellent idea, we were able to follow the health and safety requirements by asking Beth (this can be seen in previous blog posts) if there were any Health and Safety requirements that we had to follow. As we weren't physically taking the photos, this wasn't our issue but as a team we decided to think of a few such as the flash affecting people with epilepsy and also and legal requirements such as under 16's having parental permission or disclaimers to have their photo taken.

As a team we were all able to co-operate well by helping each other out when necessary, we were able to share out and take on individual tasks to ensure the project was a success. We were all able to use each of our strengths to work as a team and come up with good ideas and ensure the event was successful.

I enjoyed the activity as a whole because I got to work in a group and lead the team which was a big step forward for me. It has shown me that I can successfully plan an event. Personally there was nothing I didn't enjoy, it was all an excellent learning curve and I have taken so much out of it for future activities like this one.

My main strengths throughout the activity was my willingness to participate and take notes each week from the managers meeting to keep the group up to date on what was expected from us and how we were going to achieve this, I was also able to use and share with the others my newly learned skill of using Microsoft Publisher to create the golden tickets and the poster. I stayed very assertive throughout the activity to ensure we were able to come to reasonable decisions. My main weakness was that I didn't confirm the photo booth with the photographers the day before the event, Beth gave me some excellent advice to always confirm the event closer to the time in future. I will take both my strengths and weaknesses on board and ensure to improve them in future projects, social situations and I believe this could help me in the workplace as (hopefully) a future salon owner as I will need to manage a team of stylists in a busy work environment with an appointment system using similar skills.

The main thing I hoped to achieve from this activity was to prove to myself that I was able to take on the lead role and successfully run an event, I wanted to build my confidence by taking on this strong role. I feel that I personally achieved this as the event was a success - we proved this by making more profit than we predicted. Although I have taken on board a few things that I could have done differently, as listed above that I will always ensure to confirm events closer to the event date. I wanted to do this role to expand on my skills and feel I had the appropriate manner to do so, it has greatly boosted my confidence and proved to me that it is not as easy as it looks but at the end of the day, practice makes perfect!

07/06/2017 Event Day (Kim)

As there wasn't much to set up for the photo booth, I was able to offer my help and the rest of my team to help with other activities. We came across a few problems at the start - one being that the photo booth hadn't been confirmed the day before so we were unsure Alan and Ally were still able to help, but as a team we stuck together and got it all sorted! It ran smoothly from then on and we had a wonderful dry day.

It wasn't quite as busy as we expected because college is coming to an end so many students had assessments, other commitments or have left for the summer. There was one guest there who we were especially pleased to see - Allison!! She was very excited and pleased to see us all helping out to raise money for Team Jak. Although the Golden Tickets didn't go to plan, we were still able to raise some funds for the charity.

I stayed at the Photo booth for the best part of the day to ensure any problems were able to be resolved, luckily we never came across any once it was up and running. A few members of the team were able to go out and offer help to others as Ally was there to take the photos. All in all it was an excellent day and we all made Allison proud by giving it our best efforts!

FINAL POST (chelsey)

This is my final review about our photobooth project. Although on Wednesday I was not in my group have kept me informed and up to date to allow me to catch up on blog posts. Our group did not have to consider any of the safety requirements for the photobooth, this was because we had Ally to help us and he actually took the pictures on the day on our behalf. We never developed or produced a product as this was already in place for us to use. The group spoke and agreed that we worked well together to help and advise each other whenever that was needed, we showed initiative to overcome problems. Most of the ideas were done in a constructive manner. On the day since our event did not need many people to run the people who were left spare decided to help the bay city stallers as they had a big task and needed more bodies to help run their stalls.

During the activity I enjoyed working with my group and also getting to know the level 4 students better because I felt that it was good to work with other people rather than just the people in my own class. The thing I least enjoyed about the activity was on the day hanging about the event waiting for people to come. This was because our part of the event was taking place in the union room therefore people didn't really know where to find us therefore it was quite quiet.

My main strengths during the activity was leadership. Although Kim was the overall leader of the group I was Kim's back up and helped her make important decisions regarding the event. I also helped liaise with Ally and Alan because Kim was not actually who they were but I had dealt with them both during our other event for Stephens Events class. My weaknesses during the activity was time management. Due to issues with google drive me and scott weren't able to share the business plan to work on outwith class therefore we took longer to do that than what it should have. I would use this experience in the workplace to show that I  am able to organise and carry out an event to a high standard and one that is worthwhile. This experience will help me in social situations as I am able to take lead and be confident in sharing opinions with other people.

The main thing I hoped to achieve from this activity is to work with new people and ones that I don't usually work with to find out how well I work with other people and not just who I would normally choose to by myself. This was manageable because the group was made by choosing the activity we were individually most interested in rather than who we actually wanted to work with. I feel that I worked well in my role as it helped me become more confident in taking lead as I had to do this in Kims absence whether it be she was not in college or she was at meetings with the other managers and our lecturers to organise things as a whole.   

14th June 2017 Enterprise Activity Final Post (Scott)

Over the period I feel that our group worked well together and offered each other advice when required, the project it's self never had any health and safety requirements for us as a group because it wasn't us it was actually taking the photos because it was one of the photography technicians that was doing this but we did have to make sure that anyone was of consenting age.

I enjoyed working as a group and with new people I also liked that I was adaptable by helping out the other group on the day.
there was nothing that I never really liked about the activity because I was concentrating more on helping Jak's Den

Individually my main strength during this activity was that I was adaptable being able to change roles when needed. I asked my team mates about my weaknesses they told me that there were no real weaknesses but I feel working with others I am not in control and I worry to much that is my main weakness that I will now have to work on going forward.

On Reflection overall my adaptability is the main thing that I have achieved from this activity and will help me on any other project and also will help me in any future employment this was shown with having to change on the day and  help the Bay City Strollers group.

Final Review Karolina 14/06/2017

This is my final review about this project This morning was the last day of me taking my minutes and cheering the meeting because Kim is off I had to take over for her, My team didn't had to consider any safety requirement's because they were already considered by a professional that was taking pictures for us, We haven't developed a product because it was already in the place for us We all think that we have worked well and flexible as a team we have all give each other help and advice when it was needed Most of the ideas were on constructive manner half of us had to modify to help bay city's stallers group because they required help and there wasn't a lot to do for photo both
 As I took my minutes I have asked people that are here which is Jodie and  Scott on what they have enjoyed

Scott told us that he enjoyed working with new people, Jodie said that she enjoyed giving out props and helping others and myself I have enjoyed using props to encourage costumers to come and take their picture taken By a professional Kim Nathan and chelsey were not available to give the feedback.

Personally I think that my main strength was communicating with other people going around to canteen and encouraging them to have their picture taking because we weren't really easy to find I think that me going round and telling people made them aware of that photo both is actually happening. My team thinks that I didn't have any weakness because I was confident on what I was doing. I will take My skills that I have learned on this  project and use them for another one
If I got to do another fundraising and a work placement I will use my team work skills and confidence to work in a team in a workplace I have learned that it can be hard to get other people to donate money and I had to use my problem solving skills to encourage other to donate if its possible
 I hoped to help Alison Jaks mum to raise money  for her charity and to build up skills that will be useful in future, As team I think that we have achieved our target but there was few problems like The technician didn't know that it was getting set up because none has sent out the conformation to him but thankfully we have managed to solve it on time also I think if the photo both was more seen a lot of other people would know about it , yes I feel like I have worked as much as I could and used my skills to help my team with anything that had to be done and I knew I could help for example using publisher I have made a poster and for my communicating skills I tried to get costumers to take a picture with their friends.

14/06/17 final post Jodie McLean

I enjoyed handing out the props for the people who came to our photo booth because I think it made them more confident with wanting to get their photo taken if we offered them the props. I also enjoyed the fundraising itself because it was nice to see everyone work together to raise money.

I enjoyed all of it I don't have any reason why I least enjoyed it because over all I think it was a pretty good day.

Main strengths- I think my main strengths for the activity would've been trying to get more people to come into our photo booth persuading them to come and explain why we are doing it and what the cause we are raising money for. We eventually got more people to come in once I moved the big photo booth sign outside instead of having it up the back at the room with us.

Main weaknesses- I don't think I did have any weaknesses in the group, like overall I think it went really good and I think we have raised a good bit of money aswell for team jak.

I will use this experience just in case any other fundraisers come up in any other college course I do and I can say i was part of one of the jaks den fundraiser events within West Lothian College, or if I was applying for a job and I got an interview I'd mention this to say that I am capable of working within a group to raise money for a good cause.

I will use this in the work place because if a was going for a job interview and the interviewer asked how well I work in a group I can then say I work pretty well as back in college I helped plan and do a fundraiser involving the college with team jak. I think this fundraiser was really good experience and I would definitely do something like this again.

To help me with social situations I think this has boosted my confidence up a bit with speaking out and trying to get people in to come help raise a bit of money for team jak. I feel as if at the start of this planing in the groups of the enterprise class I wasn't really good at speaking out infront of people but having they few weeks of getting to know new people and speak to others this has lifted my confidence up.

The main thing I wanted to achieve with the enterprise activity was to just to get a chance to help raise money for a good cause and to get to know other students within the fundraiser. Yes I think we have managed to achieve this because I met new people, and also we have managed to raise a bit of money for team jak aswell.

In our group we didn't really have set roles we were all just doing a bit of everything to help out each other in the group but because of this overall my team was good at what we done they all worked really well and I'd be willing to work with them again if I had the chance too. 

Event Day 7th June 2017 (Scott)

Jak's Den Mini Festival

Wednesday 7th June 2017

in Association with West Lothian College

The day has arrived and with the Photo Booth only requiring a few members to run it it was
loaned out to help the other stalls and also try and give away the Golden Tickets so people could get their photos taken, So i ended up helping The Bay City Strollers group with the tombola, bakery, raffle and the I,m a Student get me out of here, this was the biggest set up in the festival and the busiest they could have easily sold the tombola 6 times over, even though no one wanted a golden ticket for the photo booth (they must prefer selfies), but Jak's mum Alison made an apperance and was one who did have a picture taken in the photo booth (pic below) i was also the first to do i'm a student............... all for a good cause.

Just hope we have all done them proud over all, great day and weather wasn't to bad either.

The Day Of The Event (Chelsey)

Due to our photobooth not having to involve much work, I was then go around outside and help the other groups. This was mainly helping the group that was organising the stalls but any others that needed extra help also.
On the morning of the event we encountered some problems as it turned out we weren't sure if there was any members of the photography department able to help us. This all got resolved quickly once we spoke to our lecturers and after this the day ran well and as planned.

Our photobooth wasn't as busy as we had hoped due to it being near the end of term and ongoing assessments meant students and staff had other commitments meaning that they never had the time to attend. We did get a surprise appearance from Jaks mum Alison who was very excited by our event and decided to get involved and get photos took with our team in order to promote the charity on social media. We made golden tickets but they didn't work out but we still made money for the charity.

Throughout the event me and Kim stayed with Ally, to ensure that the photobooth ran smoothly. Although there was some small hitches at the start of the day these were resolved and it went well afterwards.

07/06/2017 Karolina The day is happening

The day has came because the photo both doesn't need a lot of people to help  with  running it few people have went and helped with stalls and give them some help that they could provide tombola group was selling our golden ticket that Kim had made but to be honest we couldn't give them away tombola stall was most busiest one out of all of the stalls we had happening on the day the weather wasn't bad although the wend was strong and made things fly from tables it was still a really good day Alison the lady that we were raising money for has came and took a picture at the photo both.

31st may progress (Jodie McLean)

Today me, Nathan and Karolina went over to the Center to pick up some props for our photo booth we managed to get cowboy hats, feathered scarfs,mustaches, Hawaiian necklaces and a small chalk board. There was some other props as well as what we had got like silly mouths that can clip onto your nose and Sharon had also gave us a lend of her goofy hat and mickey mouse hands that she got in Florida. I think as a team we have done well over the weeks of planning this fundraiser and hopefully it will turn out great.
